The Story Behind the Lens.

Hey! My name is Brendan, I'm a 23-year-old nature, wildlife, and travel photographer born and raised in Texas, now living in the beautiful state of Alaska.

I started taking pictures on an iPhone when I was 12 years old and quickly fell in love with the art of capturing the beauty of the world around me. It remained a casual interest until high school, when I took a photojournalism course my freshman year and actually learned how to use a “real” camera. I began taking composition and editing seriously, branching into real estate photography and earning my drone pilot license.

Just twenty days into my 20s, I took off on an adventure that would change my life forever. I hopped on a one-way flight to Berlin with a backpack, a camera, and practically no plan, just a dream to be free and explore. I photographed anything and everything that caught my eye. I’ll admit, the photos were not always great, but I completely fell in love with the process.

For the first five months, I traveled exclusively overland. I ventured through the Balkans over daring mountain passes in questionably safe minibuses, stopped in Kyiv during the early months of the Russo-Ukraine war, and continued through Türkiye, finding myself in the heart of the devastating 2023 Kahramanmaraş twin earthquakes. Along the way, I met some of the most incredible people, tried foods I had never even heard of, and saw the resilience of the human spirit through community in times of unimaginable crisis.

On the second leg of my journey, I flew from Georgia to Denmark and continued north to the Arctic archipelago of Svalbard. To this day, it remains one of the most extraordinary places I have ever visited. The landscapes are vast and unforgiving. Outside the shelter of Longyearbyen, you face relentless Arctic wind alongside adorable seals, walruses, and Svalbard reindeer. This is where I absolutely fell in love with wildlife photography, my favorite genre to capture.

Since then, I have traveled to over 30 countries, briefly lived in Mexico, and worked in National Parks across the United States. And now, I'm living at a dog sledding camp on Denver Glacier in Alaska. No matter where life takes me next, I will always bring my camera along for the adventure.
